Hi there,
For the first time in American history, I'm not sure parents like me can look our kids in the eye and promise them a better life than what we had growing up. That's a heavy thing to consider, but I still think it's true. Here's what I want to do about it -- with your input.
A big part of what worries me is how hard parents and our families have been hit throughout this pandemic. The crises that we're facing on child care, health care, and education started long before the first case of COVID. But the pandemic still escalated these challenges in ways that were difficult to predict.
As one of the few parents of young children serving in Congress, I'm proud to advocate for the American Families Plan to tackle these issues head-on. But as Congress works to build a better future for all our families, I want to make sure I'm representing your voice accurately.
That's why I'm reaching out to fellow parents today -- and folks who care deeply about the success of all our families. How are you doing? How can Congress help? What do you need the most when it comes to child care, health care, education, tax relief, or anything troubling your family?
Reply to this email to let me know. I probably can't respond to everyone personally, but I'll read each one and forward the responses to my team to review. We're hoping to have a Zoom meeting and listening session with parents later this summer to talk more. But for now, I just want to take some time to hear from you.
Thank you in advance for any and all feedback!
-- Andy
