Coming off July 4th weekend, I am feeling a little more patriotic than usual. And if you ask me, there's nothing more patriotic than standing up against politicians who wish to blatantly infringe on our fundamental rights! One such politician, U.S. Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman of New Jersey, has introduced the "Handgun Licensing and Registration Act of 2021", better known as H.R. 3740 <[link removed]>.
You read that right. They aren't even trying to hide their ambitions anymore. As you can tell from the bill's title, the agenda of this piece of legislation is pretty clear. Yet, with a closer examination of the bill, it's even worse than what the title would lead you to believe.
H.R. 3740 would require federal licensing and registration of all handguns in the United States, a draconian scheme that is an obvious violation of your rights. This bill would also restrict ownership of handguns to those who are 21 years old or above. The bill also mandates training and an additional background check as well as submission of fingerprints and photographs. These licenses would also have to be renewed every five years.

Now normally, legislation like this would be laughed right out of consideration, but these are different times. H.R. 3740 <[link removed]> already has seven co-sponsors. That's seven too many!

If they believe it is appropriate to come after our rights, then I believe it is appropriate for us to call them out for their anti-American, unconstitutional assault on our gun rights.
