We shared your Launch Survey results with Ras and tallied up the responses, and by far, your top issue was: voting rights.

Just last Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court gave a devastating 6-3 ruling to uphold Arizona’s new voting restrictions — dealing another major blow to the Voting Rights Act.

What does this mean? Well, GOP leaders in Arizona passed suppressive voter restrictions that a lower court found to “disproportionately burden Black, Latino, and Native American voters.” Despite the clear impact on communities of color, a majority of Supreme Court justices decided to let Arizona keep these restrictions in place.

This is bad news for our democracy, and it’s a disturbing nationwide trend following the record-breaking voter turnout all across the country in 2020.

We saw it ourselves here in Iowa just a couple months ago when Governor Reynolds signed a bill to shorten our state’s early voting period and close polls earlier — a bill Ras strongly opposed and voted against.

We need to be making it easier for Iowans and all Americans to vote, not harder. If you agree, join Ras in opposing this latest attack on voters and calling for our leaders to strengthen, instead of weaken, our voting rights.

Ras has always defended our hard-fought right to vote in the Iowa Legislature, and with your help, he plans to continue to be a steadfast champion for voting rights as our next governor.

Thanks for taking action,

Team Ras
