John,
Before breaking for the July 4th holiday, the House voted to roll back a dangerous Trump Administration decision on methane — a huge step forward for climate policy.
We’ll let SEEC Member Rep Ted Lieu explain:

Methane has more than 80 times the temperature-raising impact of carbon dioxide as well as many dangerous public health impacts, including increasing the risk of cancers, asthma, and fetal defects.
That is why the Obama Administration worked to implement more stringent rules that would protect against the climate and health impacts of methane. But when Donald Trump took office, he rolled back the Obama-era guidelines with replacement rules that were “less burdensome” to oil and gas companies.
SEEC members in Congress have led the way in Congress to undo Donald Trump’s methane rollbacks. Will you support them by making a grassroots donation today? [[link removed]]

John — For a limited amount of time after a rule’s issuance, Congress has the power under the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to overturn new agency rules. Thanks to our members in The House and their allies, Congress has voted to undo Trump’s rollback and reinstate the Obama-era methane regulation.
This means that companies emitting methane will have to inspect all of their pipelines and storage tanks every 6 months for leaks — and plug any that are found within 30 days.
This progress on stopping methane pollution was only possible because of our victories in 2020. We now have to protect our members in Congress who are fighting for pro-environment victories like these. Will you join our fight by making a donation right now? [[link removed]]
