Do you want to pay ~$100 more on your utility bill every year so that National Grid can increase profits and build out new fossil fuel infrastructure? If not, help us stop them by submitting an online comment to the Public Service Commission (PSC) here by July 31! ([link removed])

You can also comment by sending in postcards. Print out postcards ([link removed]) to hand out to your members, neighbors, and friends here! Write a short message to the Public Service Commission using our talking points ([link removed]) for more background, or keep it super simple: don’t raise our rates and don’t build new fossil fuel infrastructure!

Even if you’re not an upstate National Grid customer, we encourage you to submit a comment, because the effects of climate change don’t stay within utility boundaries. The West Coast is burning again, and much of the country is experiencing extreme heat waves, droughts, and floods. The last thing we need is for National Grid to spend more of our money on fossil fuel infrastructure that will last long past when our climate law says it will need to be shut down! On top of that, National Grid is not spending nearly enough on renewable heat options, energy efficiency, or electric vehicle charging stations - their plan will lead to climate disaster.

This rate hike also comes at a time when many in our communities are already struggling to pay for their rent, food, and utilities. Over 250,000 residential and over 12,000 non-residential National Grid customers are already behind on their utility bills, owing over $391 million total.
