The date of the Recall has been announced! Voters will go to the polls on
September 14, which is right around the corner.
Republicans are getting desperate, and so they’re resorting to what they
do best: voter suppression.
They’ve just announced the recruitment of tens of thousands of people to
"police the polls" for the Recall election, using Trump’s Big Lie about
voter fraud to justify blatant voter intimidation.(1) Their plan is to do
whatever it takes to muck up the works, including challenging votes,
delaying the voting process to create long lines, bullying vote counters .
. . and ultimately stop people from voting at all.
We won’t let them get away with it. To fight back, we've partnered with
Communities for a New California in the Central Valley and Inland Empire
United to organize polling and focus groups that will help identify what
messages are most effective for conveying the importance of this Recall
and persuading voters to show up to the polls on Election Day.
But this kind of public opinion research isn’t cheap, so we’re asking you

Right now, the recall is the furthest thing from many people’s minds, but
polls show that Republicans really care about it, and will show up.(2)
The same extremists who are pushing the QAnon, anti-masking, anti-vaxxing
movements are those who are gathering people to convince them to vote
against Governor Gavin Newsom -- or, failing that, scaring them away from
the polls entirely.(3)
A low turnout could send a Republican governor to Sacramento with as
little as 20% of the vote.
The Recall isn't just about removing Governor Newsom -- it's a right-wing
power grab that is attempting to capitalize on the wave of Trumpism and
unrest over the coronavirus to unseat a democratically elected leader who
still has one year left in his term. We can’t let anyone believe that
those people are in the majority and represent California.
We must do more than just show up to vote in the Recall election -- we
must make our views known publicly, from now until Election Day. Get your
