Hi Friend, Can you believe it was 30 years ago that hundreds of thousands marched on Washington to demand Housing NOW?

On October 7th, 1989, hundreds of thousands marched on Washington to demand restored investment in housing. Among them, people experiencing homelessness who marched 400 miles, and came from across the country - led by the National Homeless Union.

Despite successes along the way, here we are today still faced with a decades-long, and still growing, homeless crisis. The National Coalition for the Homeless firmly believes that to truly end homelessness we need to re-energize a movement to demand a significant increase in federal funding that keeps pace with rising local need.

We need a national HUMAN RIGHT TO HOUSING!

Join us today to demand that Congress:

  • Immediately restore Federal funding to pre-1980 funding levels – prior to the advent of the current mass homelessness crisis
  • At least double the funding for McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance immediately
  • Increase funding for community-based residential treatment for mental health and addictions
  • Expand eligibility for assistance so that doubled-up families, non-“chronically homeless” individuals and those at risk of homeless have access to needed housing and services
