John,

In a total betrayal of civil rights and the 15th amendment, all conservative justices upheld a blatantly racist voter suppression law from Arizona. These 6 conservative justices only have 3 excuses. They are either idle-minded, Republican-hacks, or simply don’t care about the future of our democracy.

It’s clear, Justice Breyer needs to retire, and we must expand the Supreme Court. Otherwise, we could end up with a nightmare in just a few years: a 7-2 ultra-conservative court.

John, before you give up, I want to tell you about a major victory we had.

On Friday, the New Hampshire Supreme Court struck down a racist voter suppression bill. The GOP did everything they could to protect this law, even packing the state Supreme Court with conservative judges. In the end, grassroots activists and voting rights advocates won.

This humiliating defeat for the NH GOP is proof that even when faced with the greatest odds, democracy can prevail.

We are working tirelessly to protect voting rights. Can we count on your support?

Some more voting rights updates you should read:

A Texas state legislature special session will start this week. Republicans will attempt to pass SB7, a highly restrictive voting bill blocked by Democrats earlier this summer. If passed, this bill will severely limit access to mail-in voting.

In Kansas, a new voter suppression law led to a stop of multiple voter registration drives.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court threw out a suit filed by a conservative activist challenging the legality of all absentee voting. Still, conservative groups continue to file more of these suits in their desperate attempts to limit access to the ballot.

In better news, Virginia has passed four voting rights bills, creating more safeguards to voting access in tandem with their highly expansive state Voting Rights Act passed earlier this year.

If last year taught us that we can do hard things; Last week taught us that we need to be doing more.

Without equal access to the ballot box, there will be no progress on any other issue. No tackling climate change, no way we can create an economy that rewards labor instead of wealth, no racial justice. So, please, can you chip in $10 to support our organizing program that will protect voters from being suppressed by the GOP?

We helped thousands of Democrats vote safely from home in Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina and Georgia in 2020 and 2021. Now we're focused on stopping politicians and legislation who are making it harder for Americans to vote by mail.
