Jack, the Supreme Court just upheld two outrageous Arizona GOP laws that suppress the freedom to vote. The courts won't save us, so now it's more essential than ever that we pass the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.
But while things may seem dire, it was not long ago that Senator Joe Manchin said he would oppose the For the People Act. When it came to a vote on June 22 in the Senate, he was on our side. And that's because we mobilized his West Virginia constituents.

There is no sugarcoating how bad the Supreme Court ruling was. Our freedom to vote is under attack by partisan Republican state legislatures who are hell-bent on stopping Black, brown and indigenous people from voting. And we need our members of Congress to take the matter into their own hands.
As Manchin himself has said, the freedom to vote is sacred and "inaction is not an option." That's why the Supreme Court ruling adds a new level of urgency to take action.
West Virginians support the freedom to vote, despite a sustained well-funded campaign being waged against it. Joe Manchin listens to West Virginia constituents, and so the most effective thing you can do is to call some of them—and ask them to call Senator Manchin's office.
