Happy Independence Day, friends!

This Fourth of July is a special one. Last year, many of us were unable to spend time with our loved ones due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But because of the hard work and resilience of so many — including public health officials, first responders, and every American who socially distanced, masked up, and got vaccinated to protect their neighbors — we are finally able to be together again.

So I hope you are able to make time to be with your family and friends, and that you savor that opportunity.

The resilience that many exhibited in the face of COVID-19 is what makes our country special — but we still have a long way to go in fulfilling our promise to be a beacon of freedom and democracy. That includes working to expand voting rights, taking on income inequality, and increasing governmental transparency.

As an elected official, I promise that I will continue doing the hard work necessary to protect and expand democracy and ensure that our country lives up to its Constitutional ideals.
