Happy Fourth of July! I hope you are having a wonderful Independence Day and are safely celebrating with friends and loved ones.

Thanks to the leadership of President Biden and Vice President Harris, the American Rescue Plan, and the incredible work of countless scientists and health care workers, our nation is reopening. Vaccinated Americans are once again able to safely come together.

Today, as we celebrate our nation’s independence, we are reminded that America’s ideals are worth fighting for. We must protect our democracy and the freedom to vote by passing the For the People Act. We have to keep fighting for the common dignity of every American and create jobs by passing the American Jobs Plan.

Having served on active duty, I also want to honor all our veterans and those who currently serve in the military. I’m pleased that President Biden recently signed my bill with Senator Feinstein to help the West LA VA support homeless veterans.

Our country has been through a lot this past year, but we have a lot to celebrate this July 4th. Whether you are safely enjoying today with a barbecue, a parade, a fireworks show, or in some other way, I hope you have a very happy Fourth of July!
