Like you, I love this great country of ours.
When I was elected as a member of Congress, I took an oath to defend our Constitution against all enemies — foreign and domestic.
That’s why after witnessing a full-scale attack on our nation’s capital on January 6, I knew it was my duty to fulfill my commitment to America, and do everything in my power to hold those who attempted a violent insurrection against our democracy accountable for their crimes.
Today — 245 years after we won our independence — we are reminded that the work of defending our democracy is never finished. The pillars of freedom, liberty, equality, and justice stand strong only because of our willingness to fight for them.
Thank you for standing alongside me in this fight. And thank you for standing for America.
Have a safe, happy, and fun Fourth of July, John!
