I want to wish you all a happy and safe Fourth of July!

I hope this Independence Day, you will be able to celebrate with friends and family after COVID kept us all apart for far too long. Thanks to the success of our national vaccination program, we can finally return to backyards, parks, and events.

As we enjoy these activities and commemorate the Continental Congress’ approval of our Declaration of Independence, let’s also be mindful that there is still significant work to do if we are to realize the highest ideals and full potential of our country. We must recommit ourselves to strengthening the laws and institutions that hold our democratic republic together, ensuring a fair shot at the American dream for everyone, and building a better, more equitable, and more sustainable future for our country and the world.
