Happy Independence Day, John!

Today is an opportunity to reflect on how fortunate we are to live in a country where freedom, opportunity and equality are more than just ideals, they are the guiding principles we strive for every day. What makes America special is not that we are perfect but that we are always working to build a more perfect union

It is thanks to the opportunities that only this country could afford me -- from the YMCA and Hillcrest High School to the NFL, law school and the halls of Congress -- that I’ve been able to live my version of the American dream.

That’s why I’m fighting each and every day in Congress to represent our North Texas values and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to chase their version of the American dream.
