John,
Happy Fourth of July! As we continue celebrating this weekend, let's remember why we have this holiday in the first place.
The Fourth of July represents different things to many people, but it marks the signing of the Declaration of Indepence 245 years ago.
In those 245 years, our country's made it through crisis after crisis and gotten stronger. Our democracy requires constant evolving to truly reflect the needs of the people.
Let's make our democracy work for all. We can achieve an inclusive democracy through establishing an easier immigration process with pathways to citizenship, expanding Medicare so people don't go bankrupt paying medical bills, and passing the For the People Act alongside the John Lewis Voting Rights Act to guarantee everyone has the right to vote.
As we commemorate the Fourth of July, let's remember the hope our Founding Fathers had for our country when they declared independence in 1776. As long as I'm in Congress, I'll be hard at work every day to build on those principles and make our country more inclusive for everyone.
God bless you all! Have a safe and happy Fourth!
- Marie
