John —

This Fourth of July, we’re turning the page.

Over the last year, this devastating pandemic prevented many of us from spending time with our families, friends, and loved ones. Many of us missed birthdays, special occasions, and holidays shared with one another beyond a screen.

This Fourth of July is an opportunity for many to finally, safely, hug extended family members for the first time in months or to celebrate the 4th taking picnics and fireworks with friends.

That’s why this July Fourth feels like more than a celebration of our country’s independence — it’s also a reminder of what we can do as Americans when we look out for our neighbors and lend each other a hand up.

We've masked up, gotten vaccinated, and socially distanced to keep our families and neighbors safe. We’ve honored first responders like our doctors, nurses, teachers, and support staff, and lifted up our small businesses, leaving a bigger tip than normal on takeout orders to support local workers.

Those efforts, large and small, are why we are on our way back to normal. We have brighter days ahead of us. And as we move forward, it’s important to leave no one behind.

We must never stop working together to make sure we get closer to delivering on the promises of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for everyone in our Commonwealth and country. It’s what it means to be an American.

Thanks for reading, and happy Fourth of July!

Val
