On this special day, we honor and celebrate American Independence. The ideals that we’ve come to understand as the basis of our democracy continue to guide us as we build on what the Founders envisioned 245 years ago.
And while this holiday calls for parades, picnics, and fireworks, it is also a reminder of the work ahead of us to ensure that our nation is living up to the principles and freedoms we celebrate today.
