Friend — in the wake of the impeachment investigation, we've been following a series of moves by the Trump administration to fast-track anti-environment policies.
We've just learned that Trump wants William Pendley, a man who has spent his entire career attempting to dismantle and sell public lands, to lead the Bureau of Land Management, the agency charged with protecting the bulk of our nation's cherished public lands.
The League of Conservation Voters has quashed other potential Trump appointees before they ever made it to a vote. We can do it again with Pendley, but we need you in this fight. Pendley has been quoted recommending that BLM "sell all BLM lands E. of Miss." He's an adamant climate change denier, and has referred to undocumented immigrants as "a cancer."
Taking down Pendley will be a huge challenge, and resources are already running low. A donor has agreed to triple match every contribution to this campaign, but we need to hear from you today.
The League of Conservation Voters and our members are gearing up for massive fight over Pendley. We're fighting on multiple fronts and we need help. Please make an emergency donation to LCV today. Even $5 can make a difference »
And for a limited time to help add support from our members, an LCV major donor will triple match every gift through the October 31st deadline.
The Bureau of Land Management is a critical public lands program. The agency manages over 248 million acres of the U.S. public landmass and oversees 221 wilderness areas, 27 national monuments, and some 636 other protected areas as part of the National Conservation Lands, totaling about 36 million acres.
The League of Conservation Voters is committed to keeping these lands public and is opposed to William Pendley as head of the Bureau of Land Management. He is far too close to polluting interests and is willing to sell off America's lands to polluters to erode our country's conservation legacy. Once these lands are gone, it's next to impossible to get them back.
Can you imagine oil wells adjacent to the Grand Canyon or oil rigs at the base of Devil's Tower in Wyoming? LCV and our members will oppose anyone heading up BLM who is too cozy with corporate polluters.
Now there's a way to stop William Pendley from becoming the permanent head of the BLM — ratchet up the pressure on swing state western senators like Cory Gardner, Mitt Romney, and Martha McSally. With impeachment reaching a fever-pitch, there are cracks in the Republican polluter-backed wall. We can stop Pendley, but we need you like never before!
Please, please, please rush an emergency contribution to the League of Conservation Voters. Timing is everything and we need to be ready for a move by the Trump administration to make Pendley's BLM appointment permanent. Even $5 can make a difference. And remember, every gift is triple matched until October 31st »
Climate and environmental fights are at a fever pitch and the League of Conservation Voters is taking on many of these fights. To be honest, we are stretched thin. Please help us win this nomination fight.
Thank you for standing strong.
