This Independence Day, Arizonans all across our state celebrate what it means to be citizens of a free nation — a nation that stands for liberty, freedom and opportunity. We are blessed to be citizens of the United States of America, and Fourth of July is the day we pause to remind ourselves of those blessings.
History is full of examples of our nation’s strength and resilience, and this past year surely has been a test for us all. But as we’ve shown on countless occasions over the past 245 years, Americans have the ability to overcome any challenge when we stand together. In the face of our many trials, we’ve triumphed — that’s what it means to be an American.
As we honor our nation’s independence today, join me in recognizing Arizonans who put their lives on the line to keep our state and nation safe and strong. Thank you to the service members and veterans across Arizona who answered the call to serve our great country, to the firefighters who are away from home battling blazes across the state this wildfire season, and to all first responders, health care professionals and volunteers who continue to put the well-being of others first. We are grateful for your service and humbled by your sacrifice.
Happy Fourth of July, Arizona! I wish everyone a safe and happy day of celebration.
