July creates fond images of backyard barbeques, patriotic bunting on split-rail fences, and Old Glory gently swaying in the breeze. But let us not forget that Independence Day and our freedoms mean so much more than that. Let us take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many for the freedoms we enjoy — for the opportunities this great nation affords us. Let us thank those brave men and women.
We are a nation of hardy individuals, helpful neighbors, and caring communities. I represent rural Colorado and I know these things to be true. I see the tenacity and pioneering spirit lined in the faces of those I work shoulder to shoulder with and vowed to champion for. I am here to listen and give a voice to rural Colorado.
We are a nation that deserves leaders who are true to their word and creed. Rural Colorado is a place where hard work and dreams are to be grown and nurtured. Together we can do this. Together we rise. This is what patriotism means to me.
“To me, the American dream means the tolerance and openness of human relationship, and the scope and scale of economic opportunity.” — Henry Kissinger
