Every Mississippi child deserves a quality education - and that starts with quality teachers. We have raised teacher pay in the last few years but we must do much more. As governor, I will make it a priority to catch our state up on teacher pay and put in place permanent incentives to reward better teachers even more. Last week I rolled out my multi-goal Teacher Pay Plan.

Goal 1 Raise MS teacher starting salaries to the regional average.
Goal 2: Recruit new teachers to critical shortage areas
Goal 3: Pay Mississippi National Board teachers the highest supplement in the nation and become the #1 per capita ranked state for National Board Certified Teachers
Goal 4: Increase pay and innovation at higher education institutions
Goal 5: Double investment in Teacher Supply Funds again
Goal 6: Increase Investment in Early Learning Collaboratives
Goal 7: Create Teacher Advisory Council
