John --
Republicans don't like it when reality gets in the way of the racist culture war narrative that defines their party these days. That's why they've tried their hardest to keep the truth about the January 6 insurrection from coming to light, but it looks like they've bought all the time they could.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi has announced plans to create a select committee in the House to investigate the horrific events of January 6. This comes weeks after good-faith efforts by Democrats to create a bipartisan independent commission fell apart when Republicans decided to collectively stick their heads in the sand and vote down the commission.
The American people need to know what exactly transpired on January 6 at the US Capitol -- failing to do that creates a national security risk, especially given the significant number of allegations that far-right GOP officials (including members of Congress) conspired in the planning and execution of the insurrection.
We're not going to let Republicans rewrite history on this attack. Although 35 House Republicans approved the measure to establish the bipartisan January 6 commission, the rest of the GOP decided they can't handle the truth. Now it's up to Democrats to find the truth on our own.
We want to send a message to support Speaker Pelosi as she hashes out the details of the committee and faces a new round of dishonest attacks from Republicans. Please, let us know where you stand:
Do you support Nancy Pelosi's decision to investigate the Jan. 6 insurrection?
Thank you for adding your voice on this vital issue.
