July 2021
My Fellow Coloradans,
We did it! We’ve reached a historic milestone in Colorado’s fight against COVID-19.

As of today, more than 70% of Colorado adults have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, meeting President Joe Biden’s aspirational goal of vaccinating 70% of Americans aged 18 and up by July 4th.

Achieving this incredible goal wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and grit of thousands of health care workers across our state, including our nurses, doctors, technicians, first responders, members of our military, businesses of all sizes, and countless volunteers — the list would stretch as high as one of Colorado’s magnificent 14ers.

I also want to thank Colorado’s COVID-19 response team, which has worked around the clock since the very start of this pandemic to save lives and swiftly and equitably distribute the vaccine. To our incredible leaders directing our state’s day-to-day, hour-by-hour response, thank you. We're grateful for the leadership of Jill Hunsaker Ryan, Executive Director of CDPHE, Stan Hilkey, Executive Director of Department of Public Safety, and members of the Joint Vaccine Task Force, who played an integral role in our state’s daily operations.

This moment is a testament to the people of Colorado’s resilience and united commitment in the fight against this deadly virus.

The vaccine is an effective way to protect ourselves and enjoy the life we love in Colorado. The virus is still with us, but now 70% of the adults in Colorado are either protected or on their way.

Our country has a simple tool to stop the loss in the form of a safe, highly effective, and free vaccine. Get your vaccine to safeguard yourself and your family.

I wish you all a safe and happy Independence Day weekend.

Sincerely,
Governor Jared Polis
