What we see happening in Portland is sad and disturbing. Friend, What we see happening in Portland is sad and disturbing. The opioid crisis is getting worse, homelessness is increasing, crime is skyrocketing, and graffiti and trash has overtaken the city. In case you hadn’t seen: since cutting its police budget by $16 million, Portland has seen a 533% increase in homicides and a 126% rise in shootings. It’s clear that the policies of the Far Left and the Defund the Police movement are wrong for our region, and the last thing we want is a “police are the enemy” ideology coming to Southwest Washington. DON’T LET SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON TURN INTO PORTLAND We know that the radical agenda of the Far Left to take resources away from law enforcement is wrong and does nothing but make our community less safe. Most police officers are men and women of honor and integrity, and they show up every day to put their lives on the line to serve. We should be supporting them, not destroying their morale, especially after recently seeing members of Portland’s Rapid Response Team crowd control unit resign en masse.
