As record-breaking temperatures ravage the country, the need to go big and bold to address the climate emergency is urgent. Justice Democrats Cori Bush, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Jamaal Bowman joined the Sunrise Movement for a day of action outside of the White House earlier this week, calling for the Biden administration to address the climate emergency with the urgency it deserves.

As Jamaal said, “We got to go bold and visionary on climate, for our country, and for our future, and for our planet.” But status quo politicians, like Senator Joe Manchin and other corporate Democrats, will obstruct our path to progress.

Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema often oppose the most important Democratic policies that could pass with a simple majority in the Senate. So, the Democratic agenda is blocked...by Democrats.

We need to grow our voting bloc in Congress, so we can pull off a ‘reverse Joe Manchin’ and block legislation that does not adequately address the climate crisis. Imagine what infrastructure investments would look like if Jamaal, Alexandria, and Cori were at the negotiating table with Biden — not Joe Manchin, Nancy Pelosi, and other status quo politicians?
