Happy early 4th of July, friend!
As we approach Independence Day, I’m reflecting on my first months in office.
I decided to run for Congress because my parents always taught me the importance of patriotism and service on behalf of others.
If the past year has shown us anything, it is just how fragile our democracy is.
The very foundation of American freedom and democracy — the right to vote — is at risk. Right here in Georgia, the state passed a law to make it more difficult to use absentee ballots, to allow the state board of elections to take over local boards if they don’t like what they are doing, and even to ban handing out water to people standing in line to vote.
On the 4th of July, we celebrate our values and everything that makes the United States so great — freedom, equality, and justice for all. And we will continue our work to achieve this for everyone. After all, what is more patriotic than defending our democracy and equal rights?
Our work to protect the vote and preserve our democracy marches on. I am glad you are by my side.
Have a fun holiday weekend and Happy 4th! I will be enjoying some s’mores with my son Nathan.
