Thank you very much for your support during our end-of-quarter fundraising push. This was the first fundraising quarter of our campaign, and I am so proud of the grassroots movement we’ve built so far.
Folks from all 23 Maryland Counties and Baltimore City have chipped in because they believe in our vision for Maryland — a bold, progressive vision with opportunity for all.
It’s amazing to have this opportunity to run for governor, given where I’ve come from. Both of my parents passed away when I was a kid — my mom when I was 8, and my dad when I was 12. The thing that saved me was amazing public school teachers. Their investment in me made it possible for me to become a teacher and ultimately President Obama’s U.S. Secretary of Education. Now, I am running to be Maryland’s first Black and Puerto Rican Governor to build a just future full of opportunity for all Marylanders.
However, it is clear as day that I could not be where I am now without the support of you all. I believe in the strength of this people-powered movement, and I cannot wait to see it grow in the months to come.
Thank you all again for supporting this campaign for progressive change. I feel deeply grateful for your support.
