Off to the races in 2021!

VICTORY IN NEW YORK

Counting ballots during ranked choice voting is time-consuming. Apparently it’s taking longer than a New York minute for our candidates in the New York City primaries to receive their results!

But there is good news from the state: Kim Smith won her race for the Rochester City Council. She’s one step closer to making history as the first out queer Black woman to serve on the Council!

Sarah Salem won their primary in their reelection campaign for the Poughkeepsie Common Council, earning their place on the November ballot!

 

GAME CHANGING CAMPAIGNS

Michele Rayner is busy announcing key endorsements in her race for Florida’s 13th Congressional District: the Equality PAC and Congressmembers David Cicilline and Mark Takano are both standing with her! Michele will be the first out person elected to the U.S. Congress from Florida!

Heather Mizeur is running against an incumbent who denied President Biden’s 2020 election win – and who’s district might just get rewritten during redistricting. Read up on Maryland’s redistricting efforts and how they benefit Heather’s campaign to flip Congressional District 1.
