John, we're excited to share that the Biden administration has nominated Chantale Wong as U.S. Director to the Asian Development Bank with the rank of Ambassador! Her nomination is another landmark moment from the Biden administration: Chantale is the first out lesbian and first out person of color ever nominated for an ambassador-level position!
We couldn't be more thrilled for Chantale. Victory Institute’s Presidential Appointments Initiative advocated for her nomination and supported her throughout the nomination process. Her past work in government and extensive credentials truly set her apart.
When Victory Institute relaunched our Presidential Appointments Initiative, we set ambitious goals for the Biden administration, among them: appoint out LGBTQ leaders to the Cabinet, appoint out trans people to Senate-confirmed positions, and appoint out trans leaders, out women and out leaders of color as ambassadors.
We've achieved a lot, but the reality is we still need LGBTQ women, trans women and LGBTQ people of color appointed to ambassador positions where we have been non-existent for so long. We are working to do just that through our Presidential Appointments Initiative, but we need your support to make it happen! Donate today to celebrate this historic moment and continue our essential work for equality!
Thank you for your continued support,
Ruben J. Gonzales
