So far, less than 1% of vaccine doses have gone to low-income countries,
as wealthy countries hoard 85% of available doses.
Many nurses and other frontline workers still lack access to personal
protective equipment, tests, and treatments. They—along with billions of
their patients, family and community members—could have to wait two years
or more to get vaccinated.
This vaccine apartheid is completely unacceptable. Not only will it cause
immense—and avoidable—suffering and death in low-and-middle-income
countries, but it will prolong the global pandemic by allowing dangerous
new variants to spread.

around the world.
End Vaccine Apartheid Teach-in
Will you
join me, activists, and direct action experts on Tuesday, July 6th from
3-5 pm PT or 6-8 pm ET?
Together, we’ll take action to break out of the systems that created and
are enforcing vaccine inequality.

Nurses know exactly who to blame for vaccine inequality: Big Pharma and
their political allies.
The truth is, we can vaccinate the world right now. Global South
countries have the capacity to manufacture and distribute Covid-19
vaccines, but pharmaceutical companies are blocking them, spending
millions on lobbying to preserve intellectual property barriers—even
though Covid vaccine development was largely publicly funded. No one
should die for drug company profits, especially during this pandemic.
At this Teach-in on Tuesday, you’ll hear from speakers who are deeply
engaged in the struggle for vaccine distribution across the world. You’ll
also have the chance to speak with me and other direct action experts who
will share best practices on putting boots on the ground and actions that
can be taken right now.
[ [link removed] ]So what do you say — will you join us to learn about the
path forward to ending vaccine inequity?
