Fin draws attention to the urgent plight of sharks worldwide and features exclusive footage from Sea Shepherd’s anti-IUU fishing campaigns in West Africa.

Over 100,000,000 sharks are slaughtered every year. These apex predators play a key role in maintaining the balance of oceanic ecosystems. A healthy ocean needs sharks, but illegal fishing and shark finning are depleting populations more rapidly than they recover.
Sea Shepherd is on the front lines, protecting sharks throughout the world’s ocean. In West Africa, Sea Shepherd is working with governments to shut down illegal fishing operations involved in the capture and slaughter of sharks. In Australia, Sea Shepherd crews are campaigning against the use of shark nets and drumlines, which are responsible for the deaths of countless threatened and endangered sharks while offering little protection to beachgoers. In Mexico, our scientific campaigns provide vital insights into the behavior and movement patterns of sharks, and our gillnet retrieval operations remove the illegal fishing gear that poses a deadly threat to local shark populations.
