It’s hot outside. Really hot outside. Yet somehow, Joe Biden still doesn’t seem to be feeling the heat.

So when a reporter asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki to respond to our demands for bold climate action earlier this week, I was eager to hear her answer.

Psaki’s response? She claimed that the watered-down Senate compromise bill Biden is pushing would represent significant action on climate change, citing Biden’s support for…expanding electric vehicle charging stations.

The White House is on defense, John. They want us to believe that Biden is doing enough to address the greatest threat to our generation. But the climate provisions in his bipartisan infrastructure deal are nowhere close to what he ran on, let alone what’s scientifically necessary.

The climate emergency is happening right now, all around us. And as we’re seeing in the crumbling roads, melting streetcar cables, and collapsing buildings, our infrastructure is not prepared to handle it.

Thankfully, our movement is rising up. After we made our voices heard at the White House on Monday, Sunrisers marched to Senator Dianne Feinstein’s home to urge her to step up for our generation, stood in solidarity with indigenous activists against the Line 3 pipeline, and brought the heat to Senators Patty Murray and Chuck Schumer in their home states to pass historic investments to stop the climate crisis and create millions of good jobs.
