The Supreme Court’s decision to hear Carson v. Makin puts taxpayers’ religious freedom into the hands of a 6-3 conservative majority.

Last year, the court required states to include religious schools in private school voucher programs. Now it could cross the final line and require taxpayers to pay for religious instruction.
