Dear John xxxxxx,
The result last night in Batley and Spen is a fantastic achievement for the
brilliant and brave Kim Leadbeater who will be an incredible Labour MP, and for
all of you who were involved in the campaign.
Kim showed courage, integrity and honesty in the face of intimidation and
hatred. She is the true embodiment of everything the Labour Party stands for: passionate about her local community and determined to bring people together.
I would like to thank every Labour Party supporter who contributed to Kim’s
campaign of hope. Every door knocked, phone call made and donation given helped
secure this close race.
You’ve united to make a difference in Batley and Spen. We’ve shown that Labour
values - decency, honesty, and fairness - can win through.
So make sure you’re a part of the next campaign, the next election and the next
victory. Join Labour today:
Join Labour today [[link removed]]At long last, we are starting to emerge from this terrible pandemic. And as we
do, this country faces a fork in the road.
One path leads back to the same broken system we had before - one which had
inequality and injustice baked in. One which saw the virus disproportionately
affect working class and ethnic minority communities.
The other path leads to a better future. A fairer future.
We must be bold, and take that second path. And I’ve got plans for how we can
achieve it. I’ll be out speaking to people this summer, and I hope you’ll join
me as we put Labour’s vision to people, hearing about their priorities, and
challenges.
I know that we can rise to this challenge if we harness the ideas and energy of
our whole movement. Let’s do this together.
In the face of hostility, Kim Leadbeater embodied those words from her sister Jo
Cox: “We are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides
us.”
In that spirit let’s go forward, together, and show that Labour can create a
fairer future for everyone.
Best wishes,
Keir Starmer
Leader of the Labour Party
