Governor DeWine Announces Cabinet Directors
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)?Ohio Governor Mike DeWine made two announcements today regarding his cabinet. Effective July 5, Matt Damschroder will move from interim director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) to its permanent director. Prior to his assignment in early March as interim director, Damschroder served as the director of the Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS).
Governor DeWine also announced that Kathleen Madden will become the director of DAS, also effective July 5. Madden has been serving as chief of staff for the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) since November 2020.
?Matt and Kathleen have been key members of my administration since the beginning and are both dedicated public servants who are passionate about making government work for all Ohioans,? said Governor DeWine. ?Both have brought positive changes and oversight to their departments and programs during particularly difficult times.?
Prior to joining DAS as director in January 2019, Damschroder served in the office of then-Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, first as state elections director and later as assistant secretary of state and chief of staff.
A native of Columbus, Matt holds an M.A. in Public Policy and Management from the John Glenn College of Public Affairs and a B.S. in Business Administration from the Max M. Fisher College of Business, both at The Ohio State University.
As chief of staff for ODH, Madden played key role in prioritizing and resolving critical issues, managing agency operations, and providing oversight and guidance to the Department?s staff.? Prior to joining ODH, she served as assistant director of the Office of Budget and Management. She has extensive experience managing fiscal, legal, and IT operations and is an experienced labor and employment attorney, having previously served as Chief of Human Resources and Labor Counsel for then-Attorney General Mike DeWine.
A native of Mount Sterling, Kathleen holds a J.D. from Capital University and a B.S. in Business Administration and Political Science from Otterbein University.?
