After a historic turnout of Black voters last cycle, GOP-controlled states across the country are passing a slew of restrictive voting laws aimed at suppressing Black and Brown voters. In Georgia, the Republican controlled legislature recently passed a 90-page bill that sets new voter ID requirements for absentee ballots, limits drop boxes, and even prohibits passing out food and water to those waiting in line to vote.

These new regulations will fall heavily on minorities, and other states are swiftly following suit. Republicans know the only way they'll keep winning elections is by rigging the game in their favor -- but we won't let them.

Attorney General Merrick Garland announced he is suing the state of Georgia for passing laws that intentionally disenfranchise minority voters. And with countless other GOP-controlled states following Georgia's lead, Garland has characterized the lawsuit as “the first of many steps.”

We're glad the DOJ is taking action to condemn the GOP's actions, but we also have to take grassroots action to ensure the GOP can't steal their way into power. Republicans are only targeting Georgia because grassroots power, strategic organizing, and progressive leadership from activists like Stacey Abrams helped us flip the state twice. They know the power we have -- and we're ready to do it all again.
