John, President Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 into law 57 years ago today. And while we’ve made great progress since then, there is still so much more work to be done.

As a former civil rights attorney, I know exactly how much is at stake here: Republican-led voter suppression efforts and the corrupt influence of dark money groups are attempting to drown out the voices of everyday Americans and destroy faith in our democracy.

In Congress, I’m working tirelessly to protect the sacred right to vote and make sure our democracy isn’t radically different from state to state, and I’m counting on you to step up and join me in this fight. Will you chip in to help us continue building this movement?

John, believe me when I say: I’m facing my toughest reelection yet. Allen West, who has pushed the Big Lie and said that Republicans should rig the game through partisan gerrymandering, recently announced he’s considering a run against me.

I’m proud to work to strengthen our democracy and to represent the people of this community -- not big corporate PACs or special interests. But make no mistake, the GOP establishment is going to throw everything they can at this grassroots team to prop up their chosen candidate and continue their attacks on our democracy.

So I’m asking, personally: Can you help chip in $5, $25, $100, or whatever you can afford to our people-powered campaign? To continue working to protect our voting rights and advance a legislative agenda For the People, I’m counting on you to chip in ASAP.
