Dear John,
Labour win against the
odds
Kim Leadbeater has won the
Batley & Spen By Election by just 323 votes!
I hope you will join Best for
Britain in congratulating Kim Leadbeater after a hard-fought and
deeply personal campaign.
The result in Batley and Spen is
truly remarkable and a close-run thing. Many politicos and
pundits had already written Labour off before the first vote was
cast. And George Galloway did his level best to thwart Kim’s
chances.
Though today’s result is
positive and a Conservative gain has been avoided, we know business as
usual will just not work anymore. Over the last few years, we
have seen time and time again what happens when the regressive parties
work together while the progressive parties split each others’ votes,
and let this divisive and nativist government return a
majority.
Before the next General Election we
will work every single day to convene a Progressive Alliance. Together
we will deny this government another majority and deliver the positive
long-lasting change this country needs.
We need your support to do
this. This year we launched the ‘Better Democracy Fund’, and
raised over £35,000 already. Help us reach our target of £60,000 by
the end of the summer.
Will
you support our crucial work in helping build the Progressive Alliance
which can change the country for the better by donating to the Better
Democracy Fund?
Each donation is a step to building
the alliance. Your support allows us to engage with parliamentarians,
connect with party leaders and activists across the UK, conduct
research and polling which shows how effective an alliance can be, and
allows us to help activists around the country.
After 2 incredible By-Election
results, it would be easy to rest on our laurels, but we need your
support now more than ever.
I hope you will join me and thousands of
others across the UK in the fight to build the best possible Britain,
a country we can all be proud of.
Best wishes,
Naomi Smith, CEO, Best for Britain
