Friend --

FIRST: In 2013, the Supreme Court's conservative majority overturned sections of the Voting Rights Act, absurdly declaring in their decision that "Things have changed dramatically" since the law was enacted.

THEN: Today, A.G. Holder weighed in on the Supreme Court’s ruling in Brnovich v. DNC: "The laws at issue in Brnovich are part of a larger, coordinated assault on our democracy...Tellingly, this decision shows once again that this Court has little interest in protecting voting rights."

NOW: Republicans have introduced more than 400 voter suppression bills and enacted at least 28 laws across 17 states.
And this year they've introduced more than 400 voter suppression bills and enacted at least 28 laws across 17 states.

Two things are clear: John Roberts was wrong when he wrote that America no longer needed the full protections in the Voting Rights Act. And Republicans will pass as many voter suppression laws as they can get away with -- unless we stop them. Can you make a donation to support us in this fight?

All hope is not lost, folks. In Texas, public outcry and bold action from state Democrats kept a terribly onerous bill from becoming law (for now). People are beginning to see the connection between voting restrictions, Donald Trump's Big Lie, and the racism that this country continues to grapple with.

But protecting voting rights for every American is an uphill battle, so we urgently need you with us. The NDRC is working feverishly to defend the freedom to vote and make sure each vote counts equally -- do we have your support?
