Policing and white supremacy

White supremacy and policing have been intertwined since the days of slave patrols. Join our online conversation to examine the impacts of this connection and how we can work to end it. Speakers include Aislinn Pulley, co-executive director of Chicago Torture Justice Center; Dylan Rodriguez, professor at the University of California; Yazan Zahzah, co-author of "Why Treating White Supremacy as Domestic Terrorism Won't Work and How Not to Fall for It”; Jamala Rogers, Organization for Black Struggle; and Tyler Wall, associate professor at University of Tennessee. Film screening and panel discussion: “Gaza Fights for Freedom”

Join AFSC and Voices from the Holy Land’s online panel discussion of the new documentary “Gaza Fights for Freedom.” The film takes an in-depth look at the protest movement in Gaza, including the Great March of Return. Panelists include film director Abby Martin, Issam Adwan of We Are Not Numbers, and AFSC’s Jehad Abusalim. Breaking open cages from the ground up: Spotlighting local campaigns to end immigrant detention

AFSC staff and partners will discuss local organizing and advocacy to free detained people, stop policies that promote detention, and shut down these facilities for good. This panel-style conversation will highlight the value of consistent advocacy that is rooted and developed in partnerships with leaders and members of impacted immigrant communities. For decades, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have separated countless families, caused the deaths of people seeking refuge, and terrorized our communities. Stopping the flow of money to these agencies is an important step to ending systems of cruelty against immigrants.
