This year’s Wenger Award winners include Dr. LaPrincess Brewer from the Mayo Clinic for Excellence in Medical Research, CardioNerds for Excellence in Medical Innovation and the Alliance for Aging Research for Excellence in Patient Advocacy. Our keynote speaker is past Wenger Award winner Dr. Janine Clayton, Director of the NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health. Tickets are complimentary, with the option to make a donation. Science & Leadership Symposium Application Open WomenHeart is currently recruiting women with heart disease to attend our training for new WomenHeart Champions. Applicants must be a woman with heart disease, at least 18 years old, and be three months out since their most recent major heart event. The Science & Leadership Symposium will take place virtually with Mayo Clinic faculty starting in mid-September. The deadline to apply is July 7. More information is available here.
Mid-Year Policy Update WomeHeart’s latest blog highlights legislation moving in Congress to support women living with and at risk of heart disease. These include bills to invest in heart valve disease research and awareness efforts, to remove financial barriers to vaccines, to expand access to cardiac rehab and to address increasing rates of maternal mortality for Black women.
