It is time to shine a light on one of the darkest moments in our history.

The American people have a right to know exactly how and why the attack on the U.S. Capitol occurred. I’m proud to have been appointed as one of the eight members of the House select committee tasked with investigating the events of January 6th.

I did not serve my country for 20 years in uniform to allow our nation’s most sacred ideals to be trampled in the name of blind partisanship.

As a Navy veteran and as a member of Congress, I swore an oath to support and defend our Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. I will not abandon it.

This is about our shared future — the future of our democracy and of our nation. We will seek the truth.
