It’s Jasmine Ruddy, an organizer here at National Nurses United. I’m reaching out today because we have an opportunity right now to change millions of lives by expanding and improving Medicare in the next budget reconciliation package.
There are 3 key proposals we want to see included:
Democrats in the Senate have expressed some support for these proposals, but we need to hold their feet to the fire in the coming days. That’s where you come in:
Will you call one of your senators right now and urge them to support Medicare expansion? Our dialer system will automatically connect you to the office of one of your senators at random.
You’ll be prompted to enter your zip code to be connected to one of your senators' offices.
Hi, my name is _____, and I'm calling from Philadelphia.
I’m calling to urge Sens. Casey and Toomey to support Medicare improvements and expansion in the budget reconciliation package. Specifically:
1) Allowing Medicare to negotiate prescription drugs
2) Improving Medicare to include dental, hearing, and vision and an out of pocket cap, and
3) Lowering the Medicare eligibility age to 60.
86% of voters are in support of these policies including 82% of Republicans. Will the Senator commit to supporting these policies? Thank you for your time.
These policies aren’t a replacement for Medicare for All, but they are a major step toward it. By improving and expanding Medicare, we can immediately improve the lives of millions and begin to rein in private healthcare corporations that profit off our death and suffering.
Medicare expansion is extremely popular, with 86% of all voters in support (including 82% of Republicans!) and we have the nurses and activists who’ve organized for Medicare for All for decades to thank for that.
Your senators need to hear from you loud and clear that Medicare expansion is a priority and must be included in the package.
It is an honor to be in this struggle with you especially when, on a good day, the outcome of that struggle can save millions of lives.
Thank you for reading and taking action.
In solidarity,
Jasmine Ruddy
