What can you do... to expand opportunity?

Dear John,
You are probably aware that the US system of mass incarceration is a direct result of systemic racism, inequality, and a lack of access to opportunity that can impact families and communities for years – even generations.
You also probably know that paid family and medical leave is available to only a fraction of working Americans.
And you probably realize that there are children at the border who are still not yet reunited with their families, after having been separated, some of them, for years.
What can you do? How can you tell a story about criminal justice, about economic opportunity, or about immigrant human rights, in ways that lead to changed attitudes and action?
We have some ideas. Watch this video to learn more about us.
And you can support the work by donating now!
The Opportunity Agenda partners with social justice leaders so that they have resources that help uplift their voices even more effectively and expand their reach even further. In addition to the practical, hands-on communications skills, media interview practice, and connections with other emerging leaders gained at our intensive signature training, The Communications Institute – at no charge – attendees (Comms Institute Fellows) benefit from continued one-on-one media readiness coaching.
For example:

Aisha Wells, an organizer with Mothering Justice, with coaching from our Manager of Media Strategy, successfully pitched her feature piece on paid family medical leave to Bridge Michigan, an online news source that reaches up to 3.75 million readers each month.
The work – and words – on immigrant detention of Tania Mattos with Freedom For Immigrants, were recently highlighted in a feature article in The Nation as a result of strategic outreach developed with our team.
Cheryl Wilkins, co-founder and director of Women Transcending, which supports and develops the leadership of formerly incarcerated women, is not only a Comms Institute Fellow, but also reached out to The Opportunity Agenda to request communications training for Women Transcending’s annual cohort of emerging women leaders.
