That was a real tweet that was sent out last night from a news reporter at the Trump rally in Minnesota as he warned trump supporters who were leaving the rally not to wear their trump gear because there was a high chance they could be attacked.

I started with that because I think its the most telling and encompasses the entire feeling outside the rally as hundreds of protestors, including a DFL legislator, threatened and attacked police officers as well as Trump supporters leaving the rally.

That's not Minnesota. That's not America.

In America, the 1st Amendment to the Constitution allows us an unalienable right to speak our minds. That's why I understand peaceful protesting- I do. It's one of the greatest parts about being an American- the fact that we are allowed to say whatever we want without having the fear of being persecuted for it. However, with that, there's a certain extent and line that can't be crossed where violence is never acceptable.

We are all Americans and more than that we are all humans. We are allowed to have different political views- but at the end of the day, we have to be able to respect that we all think differently. A lot of people claim that our nation is divided but violent actions like this only further divide us- what brings us together is being able to be kind to people who have different views then you do.

I am working in Congress to keep our nation together- this isn't the way for Minnesota. Everyone deserves the right to express their political views without the fear of persecution. Our state deserves better and our nation deserves better. Now, more than ever we must stand together and choose kindness, always.

For Minnesota,
