Ask your MP to sign the EDM calling for an end to arms sales to Israel |
Dear friend
Thanks to everyone who has already emailed their MP asking them to sign Early Day Motion 138 in Parliament, calling on the government to stop arming Israel, and to find out if UK arms were used in the recent attacks on Gaza.
The media spotlight may have moved on since Israel’s latest deadly attacks on Gaza, but the people of Palestine are still reeling from the lethal bombardments, and continue to endure the daily torment of living under a brutal military occupation, which is carried out with British weaponry and political support.
Protests around the UK show that resistance and outrage are growing. An Early Day Motion was set up by MPs to demand action from the British government, to end the arms sales that are fuelling the violence. So far, thanks to your action, 59 MPs have signed. We can double this number with your help, but time is running out before Parliament closes for the summer break.
The more MPs who sign this Bill, the more pressure we can build on Boris Johnson to create a two-way arms embargo, and investigate whether UK weapons were used in the recent bombardment. Your continued pressure on the government is all the more important as MPs leave for the summer, and media attention falls away. Email your MP now with our easy online tool.
If you’ve already asked your MP to sign, you can still help. CAAT is supporting an online Lobby Day organised by Palestine Solidarity Campaign on Thursday 8 July.
Join others in your area to speak to your MP about why you believe action is so urgently needed for the people of Palestine. You will get a full briefing and information from PSC, and you do not need any previous experience or expertise. You will not have to lobby your MP on your own.
Thank you, as always, for your support for CAAT’s work.
In solidarity
