First: We raised alarms last month about the Arizona GOP's sham-audit and what it would mean for our nationwide fight for voting rights.
Then: Merrick Garland announced that the DOJ's Civil Rights Division would be investigating the audit for possible violations of federal law.
Now: Maricopa County officials are being forced to throw away millions of dollars of voting equipment because it was turned over to a Republican-led third party, and there are legitimate concerns that the machines were tampered with.
Make no mistake, friend, we have won important victories in the defense of elections in Arizona, but none of them will be enough to protect the future of our republic.
Republicans are waging an all out assault on free and fair elections across the country, and the Arizona audit was just the first assault. That's why it's critical that Congress pass meaningful voting rights legislation to protect our democracy. We cannot allow the GOP to continue to erode our democracy, but with Democrats in Congress not moving fast enough, it's up to stalwart Democrats like you to speak up and demand our elections be secured. We need to hear from 200 more Democrats to demand Congress take action:
