Dear Friend,

I wanted to update you on a few things I am working on in Congress and ask for your help today.

Most of the work of Congress is done in committee, and I serve on more committees (4) than any other Congressmember, including the super-important Intelligence Committee. Few Tennesseans have ever served on it. I am also on the Budget, Armed Services, and Investigations committees, something of a record. Democratic leadership has given me heavy responsibilities because I supervise nuclear weapons, satellites, space, missile defense, and other vital areas. You don’t get to pick your assignments; leadership has volunteered me for the tough work.

You may have also seen me on TV laying into our disgraceful Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy, for his attempts to wreck our postal service. Or you might have seen me attack the billionaire Sackler family for their role in America’s opioid crisis. I hear concerns from Tennesseans every day about issues with mail delivery and how opioids are destroying lives. I want you to know that I’m fighting for you in Washington.

Meanwhile, here at home, I’ve pushed for billions of dollars of help to Nashvillians and Middle Tennesseans to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, including billions specifically for our music, restaurant and hospitality businesses that are so vital to our tourism economy. Thank goodness, things are finally getting back to normal and the economy is getting stronger, fast.

Nashville is making progress and we’ve got to keep up the momentum. Please don’t hesitate to call or text my cell (615) 714-1719, if you ever have any questions or concerns.

I am running again in 2022, and if you could chip in $3, $5, or even $10 today, I would be honored for your support. This is going to be a busy and difficult election cycle, mainly due to redistricting. I’m working tirelessly to ensure that Tennessee Republicans don’t gerrymander our oasis of blue, cracking our district to ensure more Republicans will be in Congress. I need your help with that and a little support goes a long way.

Gratefully,

Jim Cooper
