It's easy to think of gun violence as something that happens to other people. Before I was an NBA championship coach, before I was an NBA champion, I was just a young man who thought his life was impenetrable. I felt immune to everything, and I felt that my family was, too. 

But 36 years ago, my life was shattered when my father was shot and killed outside his office. That moment taught me the harshest reality: that no one is immune to the dangers of gun violence. But I also know that we can change that reality if we take meaningful action to save lives. 

That's why I work with Brady. They're doing the real, critical work to fight back against the shameless NRA and its allies to finally pass gun reform that can save lives and end gun violence.

But Brady's fiscal year deadline is almost here, and they're still short of their crucial $70,000 goal. Every dollar you give has the potential to save lives –– and right now, Brady's Board of Directors is MATCHING every single dollar so that we have the resources to change our reality for the better. So I have to ask, John:

John, I never imagined that 36 years after I became a gun violence survivor, this epidemic would be getting worse. There's an obvious, unconscionable reason why we're still stuck where we are: NRA cronies like Mitch McConnell and other bought-off politicians refuse to take action and save lives. The gun lobby has obstructed widely supported bipartisan gun safety reforms for far too long. 

But under President Biden's administration, things can change. We can pass expanded background checks and an assault weapons ban –– legislation that the majority of Americans support. We've already started to build momentum, and with every bit more of momentum we capture, the closer we get to a future free from gun violence. 

But the problem is, we need more than just momentum. We need resources, too, to fuel the incredible work Brady is doing to turn our goals into reality. Brady has a plan to defeat the NRA and save millions of lives. But their plan depends on you, John. And it has to start NOW. 

With time running out before Brady's fiscal year deadline, your support has NEVER been this urgent. Please, will you donate $5, or as much as you can right now, and have every dollar matched to hit Brady's $70,000 goal in time and finally end America's gun violence epidemic for good?
