Friends –
Today on #GiveOUTDay – and throughout the entire month of June – it’s been a joy to see stories from across the South about organizing work and projects that center the voices and experiences of LGBTQ people. We’re honored to be part of the Southern LGBTQ movement.
Part of the beauty of Pride month this year is that our joy centers on the reopening and reunion of friends and family after more than a year of being apart. Our pride has also been fueled by witnessing the generosity of donors like you: Time and time again this year, LGBTQ people have stepped up to care for our friends, family members, and neighbors who have been hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, with just a few hours left before the end of Give OUT Day, we’re asking you one more time: Can you support LGBTQ Southerners with your Pride Month donation? We’re so close to fulfilling our $10,000 matching gift challenge, and with your help, we can get there.
Over the past year CSE has been able to push grant-making like never before in order to financially support LGBTQ Southerners at a grassroots level. Our Southern Equality Fund has helped folks pay for basic necessities like groceries, rent, and medicine, and it’s resourced LGBTQ creatives, and it’s provided support for Black LGBTQ Southern organizers advocating for racial equity.
As this month – and Give OUT Day – comes to a close, we couldn’t be prouder of the extraordinary leadership trans and queer Southerners have shown to take care of one another. Our vision toward a more equal South is propelled forward by generous champions like you. Thank you for continuing the fight.
Thank you,
Rev. Jasmine Beach-Ferrara
